We understand that taxes can be confusing
Just Better Taxes makes it easy for you.
All you need to do is download the easy tax product that works for you, fill out the paperwork, and upload it back to us using our secure client portal. We can handle the rest!
But what tax services do you actually need? Well, we can help you to narrow it down!
The following decision tree will help you figure out what Core Tax Service you need from us.
THE NITTY GRITTY
We want to make filing your taxes as easy and affordable as possible.
The main thing we hear time and time again from our clients is “What do you need to prepare my taxes?”.
So, let us break it down for you.
YOUR BASIC INFO & CONSENT
In every one of our Canadian tax service packages, there is a T1 info sheet and an authorization form. We need you to fill out both pages. The T1 info sheet just provides us with details about you. The authorization form allows us to reach out to the CRA on your behalf if we need to.
SLIPS
If you were employed at any time during the year, withdrew money from your RESP or RRSP, or had some investment income, then you should have received some kind of slip with boxes and numbers on it. We’ll need those. This includes unemployment and the CERB for 2020.
Examples of slips are:
- T4/T4A
- T4RSP
- T5
OTHER EXPENSE INFORMATION
If you incurred other expenses like childcare, RRSP contributions, or went to post-secondary school, then we will need to see details of those types of expenses. These include:
- Childcare receipts
- RRSP contribution receipts
- T2202 – Tuition and enrollment certificates
DONATIONS – INCLUDED IN PREMIUM SERVICE
If you made donations during the year to registered charities, you should have received a donation receipt. Please enter those details on the donation worksheet that you were provided with in your PDF package. You are not required to submit copies, but you should retain them for your own records.
MEDICAL – INCLUDED IN PREMIUM SERVICE
If you paid for medical expenses in the year, please enter those details in the medical worksheet that was included in your PDF package. We will not request these documents at this time, but you should keep all your receipts.
NOT SURE WHAT MEDICAL EXPENSES YOU CAN CLAIM?
The CRA has done a pretty good job of keeping this information current on their website. Click here for a list of common medical expenses.
